Two Domain Names
Hi AllWe have recently just bought a very small comapny who have there own EXC2003 Server, we however have EXC2007, because there are only ablout 5 users on the 2003 server we will just migrate them over to the 2007 with no issues, however we need to keep the comapny domain name, so what i have done is added the new comapny domain name to the accepted domains list and given myself another smtp address assigned to that domain so i can recieve mail from that particular domain. However the problem with that is when a mail comes in from that domain i will not be able to tell unless i look inside the message headers so what options do i have in order to be able to send from microsft outlook and be able to choose either comapny@a.com or company@b.com i am a bit stumped on my options so any help greatly appreciated.thanksJohn

“Users can have primary and secondary proxy addresses. The primary proxy address for a user is the one used to send e-mail to the foreign system. The secondary proxy addresses are used when e-mail is received from the foreign system. On outgoing messages, the primary proxy address is used as the address of the sender. On incoming messages, the recipient listed in the message is matched against the secondary proxy addresses in Active Directory to find the proper recipient object for the message”
---------Refer to <Proxy Addresses>
Per my knowledge, you can’t choose the sender’s e-mail address. I would suggest using Address Rewriting Agent on the edge, modifying the sender’s e-mail address from a.com to b.com (The merged company), and then send out
We shall also notify the recipient that the mail address will be changed, and ask them to use the new address in the future, by adding the notification into the signature or transport rule disclaimer
Later, you can let merged users to use the a.com (Your domain), as all recipients have already using the a.com to send mails to merged users
However, if you must keep the merged users to have the options to send between a.com and b.com, please create two mailboxes for them, one is a.com, the other is b.com. And, add the b.com mailbox as the share mailbox into the a.com mailbox profile, ask merged users to enter the b.com shared mailbox to compose the new message if they want to send as b.com

You can add another EAP (E-mail Address Policy) for the merged domain name, and create the users in the specific OU that will be filtered by the new EAP. Then, the email will be created as the merged domain nameJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
