Hello Akshay,After you have successfully installed exchange, you will need to do the following (note: you can still send internal mail but if you want to communicate with the outside world in the Public namespace, you will need to check off the things below)1. Purchase a Domain name(s) from a registrar2. Enter that domain name(s) into Exchange Server's SMTP domain3. Set up a DNS A recordpoint to your server's Public IP address4. Set up a DNX MX record to point to the A record5. Call your ISP and set up an Reverse DNS PTR6. make sure yourFirewall port 25 (SMTP) is open and your router is forwarding traffic to the Exchange server on port 25http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423.aspxhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124558.aspxCheers,MiguelMiguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services, Miami, FL http://www.falconits.com

You can send internal messages using the user@domain.tld format or by selecting the user from the outlook address book (your outlook has to be set up for Exchange non POP3). So for example, if you internal domain is mydomain.local, you can send internal email to usersusing the internaldomain, i,e. bill@mydomain.local, etc.The POP3 connector on Exchange will take mail from another server using POP3 protocol, and deliver it to the Exchange user's mailbox. If you have a hosted server off-premise, you can use the POP3 connectorto get mail from that server and deliver it to Exchange users. There are many ways to configure Exchange mail, but the heart and soul of the Exchange Server is being a mail server. Let itsend and receive mail and let it be authorative for it's own domains.I feel that byusing the POP3 connector to pick up mail from an external server you are adding a layer ofcomplexity andcreating limitations. If you have a hosted Domain and Web site, you don't have to change that. You can leave it where it is. Just ask your hosting provider to add an A record (like mail.yourdomain.com) that points to your local Public IP and an MX record to point to the A record. This way you web sitean point to your hosted server and your mail can point to your local Exchange server.Miguel Miguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services, Miami, FL http://www.falconits.com

Akshay,Is your outlook client configured for Exchange? Can you send a message to user@yourinternaldomain.local using outlook? In outlook, go to send a new message, then click on address book. Do the AD users appear in the Global Address List? Click on one to send him/her a message.Does it arrive or do you get a non-delivery notification? If your DNS and Exchange server is configured, you should be able to route mail internally using the .local top level domain.MiguelMiguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Service and Support, Miami, Fl
