Unable to open Outlook 2003. MAPI32.DLL error message. I renamed MSMAPI.32DLL and ran FixMapi.exe--nothing works
I updated holidays in outlook 2003 SP3. I downloaded this update from the Microsoft website 2003-KB924423-v2-FullFile-ENU.exe. Immediately afterwards I was unable to open Outlook 2003--resulting in a grey Windows installation box appearing and after a minute the following error message appeared: "Cannot start Outlook...MAPI32.DLL corrupt or wrong version..." I renamed my MSMAPI32.DLL to MSMAPI32.old and still am unable to open Outlook. Same grey box appears "Windows Installation" with same Error message MAPI32.DLL corrupt. I went back in and found FixMapi.exe and double-clicked on file--nothing happened. I rebooted computer-still same Windows installation box appears with Error message shortly after MAPI32.DLL corrupt or wrong version. I restored computer to day earlier-no success. I do not have my old Outlook 2003 CD to reinstall. I opened Word--tried to run Detect and Repair and the same Windows Installation box appears. I went to Add/Remove Programs and clicked on "Change" in Office 2003 to attempt to repair but nothing happens. I attempted to create a new Mail Profile by going to Control Panel--click on Mail and the same Windows Installation box appears with the same Error message. HELP!

I cannot reinstall as I no longer have my Outlook 2003 installation CD (who know where it is). As I wrote I tried to repair by opening any Office program-click on Detect and repair and the same grey box appears "windows Installer" then the same error message appears MAPI32.DLL corrupt

I also attempted twice now to reinstall SP3 all over again and I receive the message "Update cannot be applied"
