Unable to open sharepoint Onenote with OneNote metro app

I am unable to open OneNote from sharepoint via OneNote metro app on Windows 8 and above, whenever I try to open onenote I get error message that 'We couldn't find notebook at "<sharepoint path>". A notebook usually have table of content file (*.onetoc or *.onetoc2).

I have atleast 3 computer with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. One of the computer it is working perfectly.

When I compare OneNote setting with working and not working computer I found there are 2 account on non working computer

  1. Microsoft Account.
  2. Office 365 SharePoint account.

Where as on working computer it has 3 account and:

  1. Microsoft Account.
  2. Office 365 SharePoint account.
  3. SharePoint account.

Wondering if someone can help here. I want to switch to Onenote Metro App as I find its interface much better.

Hi Rohit,

Do you mind to tell me how did you open the notebook from your OneNote metro app?

If you are using the command

onenote:http://<servername>/<foldername>/<notebookname>

please make sure you have included the <notebookname> in the end of the command.

.

Also, please make sure the user has proper permission to visit the SharePoint content.

Even after using command onenote:http://<servername>/<foldername>/<notebookname> it is not working. I am confident of permission as I can open same notebook on OneNote desktop and also, on Onenote metro app on another laptop. Same OneNote can be opened from Mobile app also.

Only two computer cannot open it.
