Unable to remove ESM from Client machine
Hi Guys,
On a app' server I have an email archiving app' that was recently upgraded.
In addition to this the following were also installed.
Exchange System Management console (ex2k3 sp2)
W2k3 sp1 adminpack.
I have come across some problems and want to roll back, only I cant remove the ESM. After I select remove in the wizard I receive an error message stating.
The component microsoft Exchange forest Preparation cannot be assigned the action remove because:- The computer acount "domain\comp$" is not a member of the Group " domain\Exchange Domain Servers". When you are using an account that has been delegated the full exchange administrator role on an administrative group you must manually add the computer account to the Exchange Domain servers group before running setup.
The user account is a member of exhange full admin and local administrators.
The Server has no Exchange roles.
Has any one come across this before and know of the action required to remove ESM?
The alternative is to rebuild the server from scratch.
Thanks

I think whats most likelyhappening here is that you may be running setup with the /forestprep switch.
Also in setup, make sure that uninstall is only selected for the management tools.

Had the same problem... Set the 1st option to "Change", and set the 2nd option (Management Tools) to "Remove" - Worked for me.
