Unexpected Public Folder growth, replication partner not growing
Hello everyone, Very recently, we had noticed that our Public Folder Database just about doubled in size, and it has been growing slowly over the last few days. The other database, which it replicates to in another site, has not grown at all. There doesn't appear to be any replication issues. We compared the Top 20 public folders between the two and we get the same results. It doesn't appear to be normal public folders causing it, but perhaps the System Folders, but I have no way in checking what's consuming all of the space. We have tried running the AggregatePFData.ps1 file to a .txt file, but it's been running for 6 hours with no signs of it stopping. Does anyone have any idea where I could start? I am seeing that there is an abnormally large # of tombstoned deletions in the database that is growing erratically, and we have extended the maintenance period to 12 hours a day, but it doesn't seem to be making an impact. Not sure if it's the cause or just another anomaly I have unsurfaced. Does anyone have an pointers where to go with this? Brandon Carder

Use pfdavadmin or exfolders and do a content export than run another report 24hrs later and compare the reports to see where the growth is coming from. Thanks James, I'm running now. I will run it in the morning and see where the growth was, because it seems the bulk of the growth is overnight. I will report back.Brandon Carder

I ran the content report this morning and ran a Beyond Compare between the two servers, as well as between the same server from last night to this morning. Unfortunately, we have 2000 public folders and I'm not seeing much difference. Is there any way to see if there's something going crazy with the System Folders that are mainly hidden to the user, where OAB, FreeBusy, etc is stored? Brandon Carder

You may run Get-PublicFolderStatistics |fl >c:\publicfolder.txt Comare 2 results via your tool. It would be helpful to monitor the public folder size change.Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support
