Uninstall Exchange 2007 Mailbox Role Troubles
Installed Exch2007 RTM on Win2k3x64 R2 server back in November. Installed roles: MBX, CAS, HT. Wanted to uninstall completely and reinstall Exch2007SP1. Initial uninstall not successful. Tried uninstall of CAS and HT roles only - successful. Still have MBX (and tools) on server and cannot remove them. Have tried uninstall from Add/Remove as well as command line.
The error received when running uninstall is Event ID 1002 - "Exchange Server component Mailbox Role failed. Error:Error. Process execution failed with exit code 5".
Exchange Setup logs are as follows: (truncated in the interest of time)

Tried running Exch2007 RTM install again (to then run uninstall) - stated that since uninstall failed, I couldn't install. Tried running Exch2007SP1install over the top (just for fun) and had no luck there either - install failed.Exchange SysAttendant service starts and immediately stops. Info Store Svc is the only one that will stay running. The other remaining Exchange services state that a "dependency service does not exist or is marked for deletion". (This makes me think that the uninstall did not complete successfully.)
Have read some threads about:
1.running setup.com /m:recoverserver RESULT: "There is a version mismatch between the running application and the installed application."
2. registering the DiagnosticCmdletController.dll RESULT: Uninstall still unsuccessful.
3. modifying the OtherWellKnownObjects attribute RESULT: Uninstall still unsuccessful.
Pls help! (...and, before anyone asks, yes I have rebooted the server.)
Thanks!

Ok, solved above issue. Found one post that said to run this:
MsiExec.exe /X{24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
Whatever that did, removed it from AD and Exch 2007 did not show in Add/remove programs anymore.
From there, I formatted/rebuilt the server.
Hope this helps some poor soul.

Run RegSvr32.exe against the diagnosticcmdletcontroller.dll in BOTH of the following locations:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\Monitoring\AMD64
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\Monitoring\x86
Be sure they both state registration successful. You should be good to go after that...
