Hi there I've been trying to uninstall my first Exchange Server from the AD. I followed instructions in the Article ID: 822931 and transfered all roles to the new Server. But when I choose the action "remove", it shoots out this message, "The component Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services cannot be assigned the action "remove" because: You must use the same edition of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Setup (Enterprise or Server) as the existing installation. Surprisingly, I am using the same CD I used to install Exchange. Can anyone help? Thanks UD

Can you provide error message in the exchange setup process log file(the file location path defaule in C:\)

Do you have both servers running the same service pack?

This post is a little late, but I had the same error and it was resolved by starting the install software from "add/remove software" and not from the CD/DVD.hope that helps
