Updating email address in Exchange 2003
A user got married and changed their name. I went into my Active Directory and updated all instances of her old name and changed her profile directory. Next, I went into Control Panel>Mail and added her new Exchange email to the list of profiles. I opened Outlook and selected the new profile name. It imported all of her stuff, i.e., folders, sent items, contacts, etc. However, the name displayed on the top, i.e., Mailbox - username, still shows up as her old name. I then went into the Exchange System Manager to try and update her name, but was unsucessful. The last time I had to update a username, I had to export everything out of the email, delete the usersemail profile, create a new profile pointing to the updated name, then import everything back in. Is that the right way or is there a better, more efficient way of doing this? Thanks

If you just need to change the name on the top of the mailbox in the outlook, the rename in the ADUC will simply do the task, after renaming with the new display name, please do not open the outlook, just go to “E-Mail Accounts” wizard in the control panel, and click the “Check Name” with the new display name. Then, you will see the new name in the outlook

Yes, your suggestion worked great. I just needed to wait a few moments for the name to update on the network. I think I was trying it too quickly. Once the name was populated through the network, it worked fine. Thanks again.
