I have a question regarding how to upgrade from Exchange 2000 server to Exchange 2003 server. Our setup is as follows:[Current]Exchange and AD server on the same machine with many windows 2k machines and few xp machines. [What we want]We would like to get a whole new server in their while preserving all of the directory and exchange data. Migrate from windows 2000 server to windows 2003 server. The only article that I could find on this was upgrading on the same server. We do not wish to do it that way. Is there something that I may have missed while reading up on this stuff? first of all , if you would like to get all Exchange Server 2003 Documentation, then here is the link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123872.aspx now, back to your case, you can always migrate from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 without the need to do an inplace upgrade to your exchange 2000 to 2003. you can do the following: preparenew windows server 2003 server that will be hosting your new exchange server 2003. join it to your AD Domain. installall exchange server 2003 prerequists on the new server. install Exchange Server 2003on it, your new exchange server 2003 will join the existing exchange organization and will appear along with your exchange 2000 server. then start movingyour mailboxes from Exchange 2000 to 2003, off course you have to plan for this migration.
