Urgent - ESEUTIL Doesn't Free Disk Space At All and Mail Store Not Able to Mount Back
Hi, i had exchange server 2003 running on cluster. Recently found out 1 of the mail store having free space 4GB out of 195GB. Manage to locate the largest email account and delete/download to PST for at least 15GB. Before the online defragmentation, i run eseutil as command below, J:\>cd EXIS4-3 J:\EXIS4-3>cd MDBDATA J:\EXIS4-3\MDBDATA>eseutil /d EXPRIVIS4-3.edb /tg:\tempdfg.edb the process takes very long and end up the edb only decrease 2GB and stm file only decrease 3GB. During process copy back from temp directory it failed with error (sorry that didn't take down the error message). We run data protector backup the tempdfg.edb and tempdfg.stm and restore back to original location and this usually is work but some how this time failed when after restore and not able to mount back the mail store. we are stuck here can some one advice us how to proceed to bring it back? million thanks! BTW, the EDB file size 82GB

Hi Are you able to rename the tempdfg.edb to EXPRIVIS4-3.edb? Try to mount it , just make sure that you will save the original EXPRIVIS4-3.edb file and stm fileJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

Hi Jonas, this tried and return message "... database corrupted.." (can't really remember the whole message.) i try to repair with eseutil /p but it taken too long time to run until finish. Check from others article... someone having about same database size 80+GB and takes 18 hours to complete. I can't take these long time to wait and the repair is terminated after resources running too high and cluster failed over. Is there any other way to bring it back? The first offline defrag is mail store 4-3 and now all my mail store in 4 is all unmount. Any better idea to bring it back? Check on the apps event and all showing not enough memory resources and HTTP Instance is failed. Check on memory and it just used below 2.5GB.

Hi, Kindly confirm which stores are dirty shutdown & which all are not, try moving the dirty shutdown on other server & try to repair there(try passive node first) & only try to remount those which are clean shutdown & try a blank database(if you are familiar with dailtone method), do let us know if you need some more clarification.Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging
