User End Ind
A user complained that her indexing was not working.
my other IT guy follow the steps reading and article and start the process of rebuilding and it is obvious that it will take time to rebuild it.
so my question is why did it happen ? is there is way to backup it up?

Indexing wasnt working where?
Outlook in cache mode? OWA? Outlook in online mode? Certain searches?
As for the Exchange catalog index, there is no reason to back it up.

In cache mode? If so, searches are against the local cache, not the server for the most part.

Which article has your colleague followed?
Please describe more about how the index didn’t work, what kind of action did the user performed?
Please check if the same issue happens via OWA as well, so you can narrow down the cause to either exchange server or client

Well I just went through and figured out that the Exchange INBOX was never selected for the search. It is set for indexing now and brining the search result from the inbox. :)
Thanks
