User Name Change
I need to change an email address for an employee that got divorced. Her ADUC username can remain the same.
I unchecked "autoupdate email address based on email policy"
I changed both the .local and .com to the new email address user information in mailbox properties.
I changed the last name and the (full) name in user information in mailbox properties.
At that point the user's ADUC properties on the DC became unavailable because 'it has been moved or deleted'.
I changed the last name and the (full) name in user information back to the original in mailbox properties.
The user's ADUC properties sheet on the DC is no longer unavailable.
The mailbox receives mail from inside and outside the domain. When replying to mail she sent to me before any changes, the mailbox receives it. Auto complete entries work. When I sent mail from outside to the old email address it failed with "the recipient's
e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system"
I added the old.email.address.com back to user information in the mailbox properties, leaving the new one as default. Mail from outside to the old email address is successful. New mail goes out with the new address but its from
Still Married <divorced@domain.com> I guess the only way to fix that is
to change the ADUC username and then I would need to use Export Mailbox to move the mail to the new mailbox.
I also guess that with all the ramifications, changing the ADUC username is no fun.

Does this sound satifactory or did I miss something? Thank you very much
EDIT: If the ADUC name doesnt change, do I still have to generate a new OAB?

Hi,
As you have removed "Update Email address policy" this behaviour should not occure. I will suggest you to edit once again First name, Last Name and display name and change Email address on base of first name , last name (Depend upon your policy %s.% etc).
Getting NDR is expected for some time for external/Internal user as ORG take some time to repliace chnages in OAB. Are you getting NDR message when sending message from OWA.

Which behavior should not occur? The policy is first initial, last name. Do you mean go back to user information in the mailbox properties and change 'last name' and 'name' to reflect the new name? The email address has been changed already. Im not
getting any NDRs, inside, outside or OWA.

ProxyAddresses is the AD attribute which contains all of a user's email addresses. Can you post the content of that?

divorced@mydomain.com which is the default reply address.

So I don't see anything wrong here. Mail the user sends will come from

That is what it is doing, as desired. I wanted to know if there was anything I had missed.
Were I to need to change the ADUC username, what is involved with that?
