User receives legit emails not addressed to them
Hi
I have a user who is receiving mail from other internal users who did not intend for him to receive it (They never addressed the mail to him in the first place). There are no forwarders to his email address, he does not have any permissions on their accounts, these are sent from different people within our domain, he is receiving multiple a day. I have spoken to the internal senders (as they pop up on a daily basis)and they have assured me that they are not intentionally sending mail to this user. I have about 700 mailboxes and he is the only one experiencing this issue, that I know of.
Running Exchange 2003 on W2K3 Ent.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I understand that there is one account always receive the email that comes from other internal users who didn't intend for that account.
Regarding this issue, I suggest we first check whether there has any special properties of that account.
1. Please go into ADUC and find the account, make a comparison among the user account.
2. Please confirm whether the account is the member of the group that not intended.
3. For further research, please use ADSI Edit and find the account, examine the properties of that account.
Regarding the ADSI Edit tool, please locate it in the installation file of Exchange, you can view the article as the reference.

Then locate the account by going to the following location: DC= Domain Name, DC=com, CN=Users, CN=<user account>, right click it, select Properties, check the various properties and find the difference comparing with others user account.
Thanks

Hi,
Did you try to use Message Tracking to see what's going on?
Does he get a copy of every mail send? If so, check whether this mailbox is configured as the journal recipient on the store properties.

Also check the SMTP message headers of the message (in Outlook do a View -> Options). See if the message went through a gateway or relay host that you did not expect. This might also reveal if the user was on the To or Cc line.
