User send email to extra recipient
Outlook 2007 connected with Exchange 2010 SP1 by Outlook anywhere.
A user said he had sent a email to 3 recipient.
But when he check in the Sent box, there have 4 recipient.
User does not have any inbox rule and he said he never input the 4th email address.
We checked the message tracking log there are 4 recipient received from the user.
Mail Control does not have any rules.
Any possible for Outlook to add extra recipient by setting on server?

No, Only outlook rule and transport rule can add one more address while sending mail to/From any mailbox. For reproduce this issue i would suggest you to delete all rule in outlook thru MFCMAPI and then check for users.

MFCMAPI should work to check for hidden/corrupted rules.
I had diagnose the action again..
There is able to add a rule with action to Cc to extra address when you send out.
However, it is not possible to add this kind of action in the server rule.
When you add in Outlook, it will appear "The rule is a client-only rule, and will process only when Outlook is running."
The only possible is that the user added the Cc rule by their own on Outlook for specific email.
It will not able to see on server since client-only rule will never synchronize to server.
When we check the client Outlook does not have this rule, it may deleted by the user which we cannot prove it.
Will outlook have any logging on it?

Hi,
From your description, it is right that only outlook rule and transport rule can add more address while sending
mail from/to a mailbox. But, transport rule is applied only when emails are transported through Hub Transport server. If this issue is only due to transport rule, when the user sent an email to 3 recipients, there should be 3 recipients by checking in the
Sent box. So this issue should be due to outlook rule.
As per my knowledge,
if the user doesn’t export and save the outlook rules before, we can’t find them.
After the user moved all outlook rules, when the user sends the same email to 3 recipients, is there 3 recipients
in the Sent box?
Hope this helps.
