Very slow to discover Exchange online mailbox

Hi there.

I have a problem where it is taking exactly 30 minutes to discover a new user mailbox using exchange online autodiscover.

This only happens on a new Remote Desktop Server using Outlook 2013.

It never fails to complete but takes exactly 30 minutes.

I know there is nothing wrong with the account as I can log into webmail immediately.

I would be grateful for any thoughts.

The first place to look is Outlook's Test E-mail Autoconfiguration.  Hold the Ctrl key while right-clicking the Outlook icon in the notification area or system tray, and select Test E-Mail Autoconfiguration.  Enter the user's credentials and then clear the Guessmart checkboxes.  That will show you what's being returned for Autodiscover.  If you see a substantial delay there, your problem is with one or more of your servers and how they're serving that up.

Ed. Thank you for the advice.

I tried exactly what you advised.

It took 30 minutes to run and returned a "GetLastError=0;httpStatus=401."

I guess I need to look at the Autodiscover settings on the network.

Many thanks for your help.

Bill.

Yeah, a 401 is an authentication issue.  You might be able to find more information in the
