The Global Address List is just that, global. So in each of those scenarios users ineitherdomain will all see the same forest-wide addres book.

For users who want to see the same GAL from different forest, they can use Identity Integration Feature Pack [IIFP] from Microsoft, which is a cut-down version of Microsoft Identity Integration Server [MIIS]
