Is it possible to deploy a virtual Edge server using Hyper-V. The host machine is running Windows 2008 x64 and has a few other Virtual Servers already running on it. It has 4 nics on it. 2 of which are in use attached to the LAN. I would like to connect one of the remaing nics to our Physical firewall boxes DMZ port. Dedicate this nic to the virtual exchange 2007 edge server. Is this possible? Does it create a security risk? How do I deal with the one default gateway issue?

Hi Yes you can virtualise the edge server role, put it in DMZ, that's the only role in exchange that should put in DMZ in version 2007 and 2010. About the security risks for putting a server in the hyper-v environment in the dmz zone, some want to do it and some don't. Hello Yes you can configure your Edge role but it should be configured with Microsoft's approved Hyper-V style of deployment. Thanks Mhussain
