Visio 2010 Walls not joining
Recently a setting has changed in Visio 2010 that is keeping my walls from joining smoothly. For examply, in the past when I connected interior or exterior walls at a 90 degree angle, the walls would form seamlessly. Now, when I join the walls
at any angle, the walls are not actually "joined" together Any help would be appreciated.

Check your Snap and Glue settings. Visio 2010 - I bet you can't find them! File -> Visual Aids section, there is a tiny thing in the bottom right hand corner, click that to bring up the Snap and Glue dialog. Make sure Glue is enabled and at least Shape
geometry and Connection Points are ticked.

I tried those settings first thinking that might be the problem, but all of that is already correct...the strange thing is, it was working fine just a few weeks ago. I have not changed anything since then. Now, even if I try to go back
and add things to drawings that were working, the changes are incorrect on even the old drawings?

Works fine here.

Do you know of any settings in Office or Visio that I could have made that could be causing this issue. The only thing I have changed (but it has worked since that change), is I turned off Add-ins because the bluetooth add-in on my Dell Latitude E5510
was crashing Visio?

Ah, there's the problem, re-enable the addins setting. It's needed for other things as well so best not to disable it. Just remove the Bluetooth addon instead. The Bluetooth addin has been a problem for ages, has it not been fixed yet?

What a pain...but that fixed the issue! Thank you so much for your help!

The "Walls don't join properley" is a bug (yes, I do strongly believe it is a bug) that I have been suffering from for a couple of years. It is a severe problem that is also related to the "UNDO not working" issue. If you encounted this "Walls won't
join" problem, check that the undo function works. I bet it doesn't. The problem is that the walls do snap to gether, and then do glue to each other, but the Wall shape macro that "paints" the wall connection, and correctly miter's the joint doesn't
work. And there's nothing you can do to fix it for that file. It's some how related to the cut and paste function. Like when you cut and paste an "Infected wall" into a drawing, this somehow prevents the Undo feature AND the wall joint maro function.
I've had the same issue on many different computers. I'm surprised it hasn't been encounterd much more out there. It's a real pain, because it means that when you start ensountering the problem, you have to start again with a new, fresh file if you want
wall joining and UNDO function to work. I've looked in all the ADDIN menus, the Visual aids, Can't fix it. It's a nasty bug. I wish it was fixed.

Did a solution for this problem ever surface?

Did a solution for this problem ever surface?
There are 2 solutions here in this thread! If they don't work then maybe yours is a different problem. Many problems like this can be caused by "messing around" with a drawing, changing settings, grouping and ungrouping shapes, sharing the document between
different versions of Visio, maybe others I can't think of off-hand.

Just for the record none of the solutions posted here fix the problem for me. I even tried reinstalling VISIO and not changing any settings. Group or ungrouping is not the problem. There is a real bug in the software.
I sent my drawing to Paul Herber and it doesn't happen for him. It's not a settings or grouping issue but it does happen to some people and not others.
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
just curious if you ever found a fix. I'm having the same problem, even started with a blank no template page. Walls don't join, doors don't insert and few other issues. Even did a repair and from you said a reinstall didn't work.

Larry,
No, I'm sorry to report that I never figured out how to fix the problem. I tried the suggestion mentioned but nothing worked. It persists to this day. Very frustrating.
I wish I could have been of more help. Good Luck

Just following up if anyone out there has any suggestions. Its not just walls not intersecting. Doors don't insert and add-ins don't run. I did an uninstall and reinstall, no luck. Just called Microsoft, they want $550 an hour to help
over the weekend. Its $250 during the week. I asked them if I bought 2013 would I get support as you can get it for less than $250. They said no, as its considered a "professional" product. Appreciate any help...getting desparate

Have you tried enabling automation events? File/Options/Advanced in Visio 2010. I disable the automation to create the floor plan, then enable it to connect the walls I've created. Once the automation events are enabled, I select an existing wall and "arrow"
it toward the wall I want to connect with. The wall pops into place, spaces are filled, and connectors turn red. Note: When automation events are enabled, selecting a wall will show me its dimension; when automation events are disabled, it does not. I hope
this help you.

I think I know the answer to this seeing how I have been trying to find one all day.
You are saying that when gluing two walls together they still are separated by a black line. I have been trying to make the walls fill color clear and so I was selecting no fill. I selected the color white instead and there is no longer a black line separating
the walls.
