Visio Dynamic Connectors

I am a new Visio user trying to create a very basic network diagram. I created a custom stencil that includes shapes that represent our products. I also created images for a generic server, desktop, and terminal. My problem is that some of the shapes are shown in a 3D view such that the lower right corner of the "shape box" is empty. When I use the dynamic connectors (using straight connector) to connect shapes that are positioned in the direction of the "missing" corner, the connector has a gap between the end of the connector and the visible shape. I can run the connector behind the image by disconnecting it from the shape, but then I lose the dynamic properties!

Is there some way to make the connector extend to the edge of the shape when the shape does not run out to the edge of the bounding box?

Thanks!

Your challenge is that the dynamic connector is connecting to the edge of the shape. You might consider using the connector tool and creating a connection point at the edge of the visible portion of the shape.

Look at the Snap & Glue options.

Check that you have Shape Vertices selected.

Ah, here is a perfect case of hopw bad the Visio 2010 help system is, I know that Snap and Glue exist, I just cannot remember where on Earth it is hidden on the ribbon, so I go to help and type in "Snap and Glue" (or just one of them, it makes no difference) - the help topics are:

1. Add, Move or delete connection points

2. Keyboard shortcuts

3. Add a layer

Anyway, I have found it now ... View -> Visual Aids and click the small greyed out bit in the bottom right corner. (or just do Alt-F9)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not certain I understand. I looked in the Help to figure out how to make a connection point at the edge of the visible portion. The only way this appears to be possible is to lose the dynamic quality of the connector -- which I would like to preserve? Is there some way to define a dynamic connection point on a shape?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I located the dialog box you referenced, but checking and/or unchecking the check box for Shape Vertices did not seem to do anything. Do I need to do something special to make it take effect? I tried selecting a connector and changing the setting and I tried creating a new connector after the setting was changed. The connector never varied! I also tried some of the other options (in both the Snap and Glue sections of the dialog box). Perhaps there is a specific combination of check boxes I need or some other feature that I need to enable?
