WP7 deleted all email from Exchange server?
Hi,
Since my university performed an Exchange migration not too long ago I have been using Outlook 2007 at home and the office to monitor my email. I recently received a HTC Mozart (WP7) with a new phone plan and of course set it up to also monitor my email
whilst away. This morning I went to check my email on my PC and found a number of unread messages in the Deleted Items folder, none of which I had yet seen that day. I transferred them to my Inbox only to find them deleted moments later. Out of curiosity I
checked Outlook on my phone, which was set to only download email from the last 7 days. It showed a single email from a number of days ago. I decided to look at the deleted items folder, which was not synchronised to my phone. Upon synchronising it I found
a number of emails that had been deleted quite some time ago, and the list did not match what was seen in Outlook on my PC. I then went back to my PC to find that ALL of the email in my Inbox had now been deleted except for the one that was also visible through
Outlook in WP7, and the deleted items list now looked the same as that in WP7 and I found none of the recently deleted email. It is as if the WP7 version has taken precedence over all other Outlook programs and permanently deleted everything.
Please help, I don't believe I have lost anything important at this stage but as you can imagine I want to know how this has happened so as to prevent it in the future.
Thankyou in advance.

Did you configure the device to use ActiveSync or POP3? It sounds like it was setup to use POP3, which will pull the email out of the mailbox.

I guess I should also point out that it has been working fine for around a month, with everything syncing as should be expected.
To answer your question I honestly can't remember whether it was set up as POP3 or ActiveSync and as far as I can tell the only way to know that would be for me to delete the profile and set it up again.

EDIT: Ok so I bit the bullet, deleted my profile and set it up again. Turns out the reason I don't remember if it was set up as POP3 or ActiveSync is that it never gives you the option, I assume that in WP7 it makes that decision automatically.
Have also discovered that I have actually lost some information that was in emails (passwords and usernames). Actually annoyed about this problem now.
Is it at all possible that the exchange server looks to the local devices to synchronise itself? That is, if one device is connected and showing only 1 email in the inbox whilst the PC is not connected to the server and has 100 items, does the exchange server
look at whatever device is connected and then synchronise with that device, so that now the server only has 1 email in the inbox. Then when the PC re-connects to the server it reads what exchange has and synchronises itself effectively losing all of the previous
data?
That may be hard to follow but the reason I ask is because my network was down this morning meaning my PC could not connect to the Exchange server, but my HTC was still connected through the 3G network.
Intuitively I would have thought that all devices were in a sense "slaves" and read the Exchange server, not the other way around.
