Hi Mike,
Equipment mailboxes is one type of resource mailboxes. Resource mailboxes are assigned to resource, stand user mailbox is assigned to individual user. Thats their main different.
About Equipment mailboxes: Equipment mailboxes are assigned to a resource that is not location specific, such as a portable computer projector, microphone, or company car. Equipment mailboxes can be included as resources in meeting requests, providing a simple and efficient way for users to use resources.
About Resource mailboxes: Resource mailboxes are mailboxes that represent conference rooms or shared equipment. Resource mailboxes can be included as resources in meeting requests, providing a simple and efficient way to utilize resources for an organization. There are two types of resource mailboxes in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: room and equipment. Room mailboxes are assigned to a meeting location, such as a conference room, auditorium, or training room.
About standard user mailbox: A mailbox that is assigned to an individual user in your Exchange organization. It typically contains messages, calendar items, contacts, tasks, documents, and other important business data.

Meanwhile, we can use the steps below to List Available Resource Mailboxes(equipment mailboxes) and Their Properties
1. Start the Exchange Management Console.
2. In the console tree, expand Recipient Configuration, and then click Mailbox.
3. In the result pane, click Create Filter.
4. Use the drop-down lists to create a filter that displays the resource mailboxes you want. If you want to display conference room mailboxes, select Recipient Type Details, select Equals, and then select Conference Room Mailbox. If you want to display equipment mailboxes, select Recipient Type Details, select Equals, and then select Equipment Mailbox.
5. Click Apply Filter to display results.
If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know.
