Hello Dean, All the things, what you can do with EMC, can be done with powershell plus some additional things like Public folder permissions, RGC configuration, GAL creation, Address list conversation (from legacy to 2007), etc and various advance settings which can not set with EMC, those can be done with EMS. EMS help on TechNet can give you list of all the cmdlets and their setting details.
