there is nothing called best practiceIt all depends on what exactly is your company's policy on this. How ever as a normal working it should beIncremental on week days (monday to friday)and then full back up on week ends (Saturday or Sunday).Raj

I agree, it depends on your environment. But daily incremental will purge the logs as well as fulls which check the DB for consistency. Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

If you can take a full backup everyday, why not do it?

Depends on elements like corporate policies, recovery, data set size, backup window, backup speed etc.. If for instance you want no-brain restores, got a large enough window or small enough amount of data you can use full. If you're window is too small, your data set is too large or your backup speed is too slow you can use differential or incremental. In the latter case, this also touches the area of recovery, splitting databases and mix 'n matching full/differential (or full/inc) backup for multiple databases or even servers (depending on backup solution). Once you've figured out all these aspects, work out a backup strategy.
