What is the difference between ISO.CEILING and CEILING.PRECISE?

Hi Folks,

The title says it all - What is the difference between these two functions?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the response.  Actually, all three functions are in 2013, while the first two are in 2010.  You don't see ISO.CEILING in 2010.  And you don't see ISO.CEILING or CEILING.PRECISE in 2013.  However, they are all there.  You can test this by entering them.  My guess in that they are "hidden" because CEILING.MATH incorporates their functionality.  (not sure about ISO and PRECISE in 2010).  But since these are only guesses on my part I wonders if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks,

Shane

Hi Shane,

As far as I know, the three function (ISO.CEILING,CEILING.PRECISE and CEILING.MATH) are all available in Excel 2013. We can see these article:

ISO.CEILING

CEILING.PRECISE

CEILING.MATH

Then, CEILING.MATH function is a new function of Excel 2013. A little difference:

For more information about these functions, we can see the summary link:

Hi George,

Looking at your chart you will notice that ISO.CEILING and CEILING.PRECISE have exactly the same attributes.  My question is why two functions with exactly the same functionality.  That question remains outstanding.

Sincerely,

Shane
