What is wizcmd.exe and what does it do?
I found a scheduled AT task running on my Exchange 2007 server that I do not recall setting up and have no idea what it is doing. I am now in a situation where it is imperative that I know exactly what it is and what it is doing.
The program it runs is: E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin\wizcmd.exe
Arguments are: -s ExWiz-ExchangeServerName-07f270f5-4f84-4427-b8fb-6677124e953f
I have done some preliminary searching and came up empty. Is anyone familiar with this or seen it before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

"wizcmd.exe" is part of Exchange 2007's binaries.
If this is a SBS server you should ask your question in a SBS forum.
There's no scheduled task that runs that binary on a regular Exchange
server.

Thank you for the response, Rich. I do not have a SBS environment. I am really curious about what the wizcmd.exe is doing becasue I am not sure who even set up the AT job.

Well, what does the scheduled task do?

Hi Captain Blackberry
For wizcmd.exe, what I know if this file is an unsigned binary, the .Net Runtime will crash due to unsigned binary execution is enable.
And I think this file will not affect your exchange.

Rich, that is exactly what I am trying to figure out. I have a new DR solution in place where I have cloned the production server and have a need to know exactly what is taking place in the production server. I see that the E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange
Server\bin\wizcmd.exe has been created and is scheduled to run each month, but nobody in my group claims to have created the job and nobody knows exactly what functions it performs. That is the reason for my posting the question.
Zi Feng, that you as well for your response. From what you are saying, I could probably just eliminate the scheduled job and see what happens?

I am afraid that an AT task cannot be disabled. It tried it will result in a prompt to upgrade the task to a Windows Vista task. The only option is to delete the task at this time.
So to summarize this:
The AT1 Task does exist in my environment:
It runs as such:
The program it runs is: E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin\wizcmd.exe
Arguments are: -s ExWiz-ExchangeServerName-07f270f5-4f84-4427-b8fb-6677124e953f
The task was created without my knowledge and I have absolutely no idea the functionality resulting from the job.
I am really needing to know what purpose the task has and if it needs to remain.

If it's running on a workstation I wouldn't worry very much about,
either.
