Why does Outlook often put me in folders on the oldest emails?

I'm on Win7-64bit, using Exchange.

I was using Outlook 2010 for quite a while, and was at least used to it.  I apparently had to upgrade to 2013, so I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to configure it to my liking.

One thing that I'm finding annoying is that when I return to folders I've been in before, Outlook is putting me at the top of the folder, but I have new emails displaying at the bottom, so I always have to scroll back down to the bottom to see new emails.  2010 didn't do this.  Is there a way to mitigate this?

David,

One thing you can do is have Outlook display the newest on top instead of the bottom.  If you click at the top of the list you change the view from oldest to newest by clicking the word.

Straight across from All Unread is 'By Date' and 'Newest', if you click Newest it changes to Oldest.  If this is set to newest then your new items will always be at the top.

So in other words, I have to adapt to the tool, because the bug can't be fixed?

David,

Not sure it is a bug, it is a view setting available for every folder in your mailbox, you can tailor the setting to how you want the information displayed.  If you want one view for all your folders, you can setup the inbox in the fashion you want all the folders to display then use the following steps.

Apply Current View to Other Mail Folders

1.  In Outlook, click the View tab.

2.  In the View menu, click the Change View drop-down menu.

3.  From the
Change View drop-down menu, click the Apply Current View to Other Mail Folders... option.

4.  From here, you may select specific folders to apply the view or select the
Apply view to subfolders check box to apply the view to all subfolders, then click OK.
