Wierd System Attendant Service issue - Exchange 2010
Hi all, I have an intresting issue at an (two actually) Exchange servers at a customer. They have two MBX-servers, one DAG and two combined HUB/CAS servers. On the mailbox servers the System Attendant Service change the startup setting to "manual" every nigth. There is never a problem to start the services, but when set to manual start, the services will not start when resting the server. The problem is on both mailbox servers. What i have done: - Set the services to "Automatic" and restart the server and the services are still on automatic - Rebuild the address book - services still on automatic The morning after the services was changed to "manual". Nothing in the event-logs. The services was still running. The services are running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3. Any ideas? :) Magnus Gransson

Hi Magnus, Based on my experience, this kind of issue can be caused by Group Policy configuration. so I'd suggest you run Gpresult /h to see if the policy is setup. You may also check under Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\System Services on the Exchange server or the DC server. Hope it is helpful.Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have already told my contact to verify if there is any GPO's involved for i haven't got any response from him yet. /Magnus

Hi, My contact at the customer site has verified the GPO's and there is nothing there that changes any service settings. Has anyone heard of something like this (if it's not GPO-related)? /Magnus
