I upgraded our server to windows 2008(64bit) from windows 2003R2(64bit). Everything went fine until i tried to install exchange 2007. It is telling me that "Simple Mail Transport" is installed. I went into services and it IS there. The question is, How do i uninstall it? The instructions for 2003 clearly do not work. I tried installing the SMTP server role, and uninstalling it, but it is still there.

Hi Josh, Have you restart computer after reinstalled SMTP Server role? At the same time, I suggest you check if some other programs needs this service and make it can't be removed. If the issue persists, I suggest writing a post on the Windows Server 2008forums to see if someone can help you remove this service.
