I am installing Windows98 on a 40GB hard drive with 2 - 20GB partitions. Booting to CDROM. The disk seems to format both partitions at an expected pace, but as soon as the setup starts it jumps to 226 minutes. What could be causing this?

You shall isolate the issue to either installation disc or the hardware. Please try to use the disc on another computer. Also you can connect your HD to a good PC then try to reproduce issue, if you can, please contact the HD vendor to check for the HD
