Word 2010 crashes when I am trying to get to the 3rd page of the document

Every time I open up a few different work documents I get this error when I scroll past page 2.  Has anyone ran into this issue?  If I remove the Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553154) security patch they work fine.

Hi,

Do you have Forms ActiveX control in the documents? An issue has been discovered in Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553154) that disables ActiveX controls, but I haven't heard that it also causes the crash issue. Since you mentioned once you uninstalled it these documents has worked fine, I think they are still related.

A workaround for this issue can be found at KB3025036. Search the hard disk for files that have the ".exd" file-name extension, and delete all the MSForms.exd files that you find. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Explorer, open the %TEMP% folder, and then search for "MSForms.exd" in all subfolders.
  2. Delete all instances in which that file is found. This includes all subfolders.
Note The .exd files will be re-created automatically when you use the new controls the next time that you use VBA. These extender files will be under the user's profile and may also be in other locations, such as the following folders:
  • %appdata%\microsoft\forms
  • %temp%\excel8.0
  • %temp%\word8.0
  • %temp%\PPT11.0
  • %temp%\vbe

I hope the information is helpful.

We also see Word crashing in an existing Word-Sharepoint solution where we use ContentControls and locking. If one document is saved with MS14-082 installed, it can hardly be opened on any machine.

FM20.DLL - 'Forms' environment or data seems to be corrupt - even after deleting .exd files manually or by MS Fixit, and Office repair.
