Does anybody know how i can get an exchange server running Exchange 2007 (in an environment with one domain controller sitting on a Windows server 2008 platform) to manage the sending and receiving emails from 2 different domains Example:......(?@thisdomain.com and ?@thatdomain.com)?????....am stuck!

Hi, You can configure an accepted domain to receive mail and then relays to an e-mail server that is outside the Active Directory forest for delivery to the recipient. Does this meant then that there's no way i can have the same server receiving and sending out emails for both domains? only possibly way to to rely on a relay exchange server to handle one end of the traffic. is there totally no way of going around this???...am rather desperate and dont want to use rely servers.

Just add the second doman as an authoritative, accepted domain. I've got one Exchange 2007 org that handles email for over 20 smtp domains.

yeh - i did add it as an authoritative, accepted domain and tested the email addreses...am able to send external emails but i can get any emails from outside onto one of the domains am running on the server...is there anything else i need to do to get around this???...

Did you set up MX records for the new domain? Are you running Edge Transport servers?

what are MX records?...we are running hub transport servers. does MX records apply to this?...and how do i set MX records?

MX records are DNS records that tell the rest of the world where to send email for a domain. If you haven't added MX records to your public DNS for your new domain, that explains why you aren't getting any email. Nobody knows where to send it to.

Ok...let me have a short at adding MX records...is there any licensing issues involved in all this...do i need to obtain a license to have the other domain running on the exchange server?

The only "licensing" involved is the registration of the new domain, which I assume is already done. Add the MX records as they appear for your current domain to the DNS for the new domain.
