You do not have permission to send to this recipient.
I am running exchange 2003. I have users trying to email a company and they are getting the error: You do not have permission to send to this recipient. The domain that they are trying to email just recently changed from having internal mail to outsourcing their mail. I do not have any restrictions set up for users on outgoing mail. Please help. Here is the full NDR: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: test Sent: 9/18/2007 8:22 AM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: rjohnson@xxxxxx.com on 9/18/2007 8:22 AM You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. <xxxxx.xxxxxx.local #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 H:MXB<xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>Connection refused due to abuse>

Here's some info on the 5.7.1 error code: Numeric Code: 5.7.1Possible Causes: General access denied, sender access denied - the sender of the message does not have the privileges required to complete delivery. You are trying to relay your mail through another SMTP server and it does not permit you to relay. The recipient might have mailbox delivery restrictions enabled. For example, a recipient's mailbox delivery restriction was set to receive from a Distribution List only and non-members' email will be rejected with this error. For Exchange Server 2003, a distribution list can be configured to restrict mail delivery from unauthenticated users. Mail that is sent by using an unauthenticated SMTP session are rejected.Troubleshooting: Check system privileges and attributes for the contact and retry the message. Also, make sure you are running Exchange 2000 Service Pack 1 or later for other potential known issues. In your case it sounds like the problem is thatthe receiving mail system isn't accepting email from your domain, or at least from the users sending to it. Since they have made the recent change to outsourced email, you may want to try and contact an administrator on their side and see if they can get their vendor to shed any light on this problem. You may also want to check what you can to make sure you're not on any known blacklists or such. One good site to use for checking: www.dnsstuff.com

That is what I thought at first. I contacted them and they said they are not blocking us. Also, on www.dnsstuff.com we are not on any blacklists. Here is what I get for the last part of the log for message tracking: SMTP: Started Outbound Transfer of Message SMTP: Non-Delivery Report (NDR) generated So it looks like it is on our end doesn't it?

It turned out that the problem was on their end like I thought. Eventhough we weren't on a blacklist the company that is now hosting their email had us blacklisted.
