Your Out Of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is unavailable.
I get this error when trying to configure Out Of Office from Outlook 2007. I run Exchange 2007 on a Windows 2008 Server. My client machines all run Windows 7 with Outlook 2007. Many people in our office have this same issue with not being able to open Out Of Office Assistant from Outlook, but CAN open it from OWA. When I try to test email autoconfiguration, it fails every time with a message that reads, autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings. I have done tons of research on this, and find many proposed fixes, but nothing has worked for me. Can someone PLEASE offer some assistance? Thanks in adavance! Chris

Hi Does your autodiscover function works? What names have you included into the certificate? get-OwaVirtualDirectory | fl *url* get-webservicesVirtualDirectory | fl *url* get-OABVirtualDirectory | fl *url* get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory | fl *url* Jonas Andersson | Microsoft Community Contributor Award 2011 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog | Follow me on twitter: jonand82

Hi, Please check the settings in IIS on the EWS Virtual Directory and verify whether Anonymous authentication is selected. If so, please clear it and restart IIS. If the issue persists, please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot Autodiscover connectivity 1. In Outlook 2007, on the Tools menu, click Options, click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options. 2. On the Advanced Options page, select Enable logging (troubleshooting), and then click OK. 3. Restart Outlook 2007, and then try to view free/busy information for another user. 4. In Microsoft Windows, click Start, click Run, and then type %temp%. 5. In Windows Explorer, open the olkdisc.log file and locate the files in the olkas directory. 6. The information that is contained in this directory can frequently provide information about which service is not functioning correctly. 7. Please post the log file here or send it to me for research. Meanwhile, please also run the following cmdlet and post the result here. Test-OutlookWebServices -id:user1@contoso.com -TargetAddress: user2@contoso.com For more information, please refer to the following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397225(EXCHG.80).aspx Thanks. I have been working on this one for a while with no resolution, I have posted to other forums but wanted to post this update here, since this was my original posting place. I have enherited an environment that seems to have a lot of little bugs. The most concerning is that my out of office and free/busy time does not work. Let me correct myself, from what I understand it worked at one time, then stopped working, I come into the company and did tons of research and thought I had fixed the problem because out of office and free/busy time started working, and then a few weeks later, after making NO changes whatsoever, they are broken again. Obviously, I have Exchange 2007, and it is on a Windows 2008 server. We use Outlook 2007 on all clients. The common name on our cetificate is cas.domain.com which is what external DNS reads, and our internal DNS is cas.domain.local. I have read many posts from Elan Shudnow and tried many variations for autodiscover URL's, but nothing seems to work. I have also enabled basic authentication and required ssl on autodiscover, oab, and ews in IIS. Nothing seems to be working. I have DNS entry for autodiscover that points to my exchange server, but after all this configuration, and HOURS of trying different options, out of office and free/busy still dont work. Can someone PLEASE help!?!?!? The certificate is from GeoTrust, and there are no SAN's listed in the certificate. I have read conflicting information on this, whether or not I have to have SAN's on my certificate. And if I DO need SAN's, why did this work for a while? This has got to be one of the most confusing and frustrating topics I have encountered! The certificate is from GeoTrust, and there are no SAN's listed in the certificate. I actually have 2 different computers in this office for myself, and on one of them free/busy and out of office works, and on the other, it doesnt. Both are Windows 7 SP1. These computers are in different parts of the building, but for the computer that DOES work, there is someone that sits right by me and free/busy and OOF doesnt work. Then in the area where mine DOESNT work, someone who sits by me does work.

after much work, I discovered the resolution to my problem........I checked for updates and downloaded and installed critical updates which included SP2 for Office 2007 and a few other Office/Outlook related updates. Everything works beautifully now.
