a bit Funny problem when using pop3 in exchange 2003
Hi all, Please help me to figure out this problem. I set up Exchange 2003 for mail system. Everything is well done now, but it remains only problem as following: 1- I configured Exchange to allow POP3, Web-Mail to be available for all users 2- whenever using outlook Express that was configured to use pop3 from Inside my network , it is OK without any troubles. 3-From outside my network (anywhere in Internet) If someone sends mail to me, I will receive it then also reply to its sender. It is OK for both pop and web-mail. However, Here is a problem: If I compose a new mail and send to any trusted email address, I can't send it buy using pop but it's OK for using web-mail. Hope anyone can help me as soon as possible, and kindly send it to my private Email: ttgiang@indochinapro.com. a thousand thanks.

Hi,Sounds like you need to allow authenticated users relay permissions on the SMTP virtuel server.Leif

By default Exchange 2003 is configured to Relay if you authenticate to SMTP (so configure SMTP authentication on your client in Outlook Express or Outlook) If you don't want to authenticate then you need to configure your SMTP virtual server to accept the IP addresses of your SMTP clients that want to relay Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Thanks, but it is not like that. Because I don't get any problem with web-mail.

Hi, 1. Please post the detail error information(NDR) here. 2. Please verify if you have Relay permission to authenticated users enabled. Note: On the SMTP virtual server > Under authentication we added Relay permission to Authenticated users 3. Please try to telnet exchange server 25 from outside and then post the result here.
