all permission lost?
Exchange 2007 SP2
If I convert user mailbox to linked mailbox, will the permission (like full mailbox permission, send as and send on behalf of) get lost? Do I need to reassign these permissions again?
Thank you.

Converting the mailbox shouldn't cause any problems with permissions because the AD object is still there.

Thank you. I checked it and all permissiom are there from resource forest.
Now, user are coverted to linked mailbox which has master account in the account forest.
even though the permission from resource forest are there, users with linked mailbox can not use send as.
how should I assign the send as rights between the linked mailboxes since their account is in the account forest and mailboxes are in the resource forest? in the account forest through active users and computers console, right? as I can not assign
the user from account forest to the resource forest through exchange console.
Thank you for the help.

You will have to use ADUC to assign Send As permissions.

thanks. You mean ADUC from account forest since the accounts in the resource forest are disabled?
Also, what about the full mailbox permission for the linked mailboxes since the accounts in the resource forest are disabled?
Thank you.

No.
You have to use ADUC in the domain with Exchange installed. The fact that the accounts in the domain with Exchange are disabled means nothing. You are still setting permissions.
Therefore you will have to use ADUC in the domain with Exchange, and then grant Send As and Full Mailbox Access to the account in the other domain. This is how the resource forest model works. It is no different for a primary or additional mailbox.

Sembee,
Thank you for your great help.
How should I assign"send on behalf of" rights?
For linked mailboxes, can it have both "send as" and "send on behalf of" rights?
Thank you very much for your help.

You can't have Send As and Send on Behalf of permissions to the same mailbox. It is one or the other.
Send on Behalf of permissions will probably have to be set via delegate permissions.

Sembee,
It has been a while and since you know so much, I might ask your help again.
How would I assign full mailbox permissions (linked mailboxes account to have full mailbox rights on non linked mailboxes)? on the ADUC or exchange server?
Thank you very much.

Exchange 2003 => ADUC
Exchange 2007/2010 => EMC or EMS
