applying new email address policy error
Hi there,
this is what happened:
- we currently using exch 2007 on Server 2008, this was migrated from exch 2003 a while ago
- we also have exch 2010 in our domain (different server) but still using the 2007 as our main one (haven't migrated)
- I created a new user and a new email address policy
as a test, I created the new user with the [company] field as "test company".
this also created the email address based on our existing default email address policy (probably carried over from the old exch 2003).
then create the new email address policy with the filter recipient is in a company set as "test company" (this returns that 1 user when previewed).
add a new email address format and choose to run immediately.
it says success but with a warning ...
Warning:
Failed to update recipient "domain.com/OU/Test User". The following exception occurred: Exchange Server 2007 exch.domain.com returned an error -2147023286 from the Address List Service.
Exchange Management Shell command completed:
update-EmailAddressPolicy -Identity 'test email policy'
this didn't make any changes to its email address.

Restart the MS Exchange System Attendant Service and check.

NO..and i am sure it's not going to take more than few seconds to restart the service.

none of them have exchange installed.

You need to reboot those domain controllers one after another.

I remember i had this issue once, in my case issue got resolved by restarting the DC's.
could be an AD Replication issue of some type.

well, I suspect that the issue was with the address list of some sot since this new user has just been created.
maybe you know of some service that can be run to force the replication or whatever?Andrew P.

This could be as simple as a need to restart both DCs in the local AD Site or it
could be an AD Replication issue of some type.

due to the presence of Exchange 2010, this needs to be run from the exch 2010 server.

Were you running it from 2003?
OMG....Anyways...you got it fixed that's important...cause i was thinking that you are running it from 2010.
