archiving of tasks
Hi to all,
I have new customer with uncommon style of work. They use tasks heavily across company. One such task commonly contains several pdf, jpg, eml attachments, so 10-20MB size is normal. After several years mailbox which stores this accounts grew to 32GB.
I want to get it smaller, somehow like this:
1) archive old completed tasks to pst and put it to network share - problem is that only one user at time can open such archive
2) use some Archiving 3rd patry solution. But not all works with Tasks - for example GFI MailArchive knows only emails. Big solutions like Symantec EntVault may work with Tasks but they are too expensive.
3) change style of work, like instead of putting PDF to task only put link to pdf stored on network share - but that's bad for road warriors
Have you any ideas or comments? Any help appreciated, thanks.

If I am understanding your situation correctly, you should be able to use a shared mailbox that has a personal archive in Exchange 2010. You can grant additional users permissions to the archive so that multiple users can access the archive via Outlook
or OWA. Maybe these links can help:

Shared mailbox is a good way.
If you have public folder, you also can save archive tasks in the public folder, then users can access the tasks through public folder.

Hi, sorry for late update, but I have a newborn at home! So much of diffenrent work :)
Well I forgot to say that Exchange 2007 is in place. And upgrade to 2010 with Enterprise CAL is not an option.
Public folder came to my mind also, but I can only split exchange database from one to two pieces -doesn't save sapce on server or resources of server at all :(

I mean you can use Outlook to archive the task, then share the tasks by public folder (This not a good solution, but just a workaround).
