autodiscover
Hello,
I reads that Autodiscover returns addresses of available services. Can you please give concrete examples of what these addresses are ?
do they refer for the OWA, Activesynch addresses or ?

If you Ctrl-right click the Outlook icon in your system tray and select "Test Email Autoconfiguration", this will bring up an Autodiscover test box. Uncheck the two Guessmart boxes, type in your credientials. It will return all of the URLs
for all the of services. So you can get a complete list there. You will see OAB, EWS, UM, OAB, ECP, AS (might be missing one). Tim Harrington | MVP: Exchange | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010, MCITP: Server 2008, MCTS: OCS | Blog: http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com | Twitter: @twharrington

get-OwaVirtualDirectory | fl
get-ecpVirtualDirectory | fl
get-webservicesVirtualDirectory | fl
get-OABVirtualDirectory | fl
get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory | fl

so without autodiscover Outlook would not know all the above addresses and it simply will not work ?

That is correct. For Outlook 2007/2010, Autodiscover is an essential element to working with Exch 2007/2010. Without it, you might get email working, but all of the other services will not work correctly until autodiscover service and the CAS
services URLs are configured (along with the certificate containing those URL FQDNs).Tim Harrington | MVP: Exchange | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010, MCITP: Server 2008, MCTS: OCS | Blog: http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com | Twitter: @twharrington
