can't access Exchange store remotely err c1041721
I whenever i try to remotely access another exchange servers first storage group, i get an error code c1041721. However log onto the server directly and you can navigate down to any storage groups. Additionally i can't access the tabs of that server when i look in properties. I suspect that its a permission issue and i've gone to AD and system manager to check permissions and i see thatall authorised users have at least a read permission. Since i'm using the administrator account this is to be expected. I've tried running the exdbm and check for permission problems and came back with none. Both servers are up to date and use exchange 2003 and those are the only servers on my company network.so any ideas to where else to look regarding this problem?

Do you see the Exchange Domain Servers Group having correct permissions on the computer object for the server in question? This group should have read permissions at least. On the other hand if you see the permissions correctly yet not able to look through the stores remotely, I would suggest adding the other server account to the ACE of affected server's computer account through ADSIEDIT (in config partition) and assign read permissions.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Thank you for the reply. From what i see in the exchange domain servers theres a very suspect permission of "recieved as" set to allow and deny (so it should be set at deny). Whether this is related to the problem i don't know. But the problem gets even more interesting in that i can seem to remove the deny permission from it.I've checked at organisation level, first administrative group, and its set to allow only when i look at the servers individually it shows both as allow and deny. Can you provide further details where to navigate to in ADSIEDIT to make the appropriate changes? I apologise for my lack of experience. :)

Hello, In ADSIEDIT, you will need to browse to the location Confirguration > Services > Microsoft Exchange > Administrative Groups > First Administrative Group > Servers > Servername you can check permissions on these objects. Apart from this. I would check for the NIC settings on the affected server, all exchange service status and the remote registry service status. All of the exchange and remote registry service should be running.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com Apologies for the delayed reply. I've checked ADSIEDIT and made sure that at least a read permission was added to all various groups and authorised members. I've also checked the services of both servers and all relevant services are operating. Still no luck though. This leaves checking the NIC settings. Anything in particular i should check?I've looked at the TCP IP settings of both servers. The one with access problems iscorrect, the other server uses DHCP and i've changed it so that it has a manual IP address and the gateway and DNS are filled in. Still no luck.

Hi,One more thing that I didnt mention in my last post. Can you please check to see on all mailbox stores in organization if anyone is missing an associated public folder database with it? You should be able to see that in Properties page of each mailbox store.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com
