cannot start Microsoft outlook

I use Microsoft outlook 2010.  I get the following message:  Errors have been detected in the file c:\users\carnell\documents\outlook files\outlook.pst

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hello Cmoore,

Can you try this please:

1)Rename this outlook.pst to something like OLDoutlook.pst

2)Create a text file, save it, rename it Outlook.pst and move it into the location of the older outlook.pst file

3)Open microsoft outlook (should not work on the first opening)

4)Close and reopen microsoft outlook again.

After the second open you should see the new outlook.pst file changed size and it might have fixed your

problem.

Hope it helped!

Hi,

use the tool scanpst.exe to scan and repair the pst-file. You should find the tool in one of these locations:

32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
64-bit Outlook: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

I hope it helps.

Create new Outlook profile. Use Control panel/mail/profiles to it:

Then configure your account again.

If you use POP then scan your old PST file using scanpst.exe and attach as 2nd to your new Outlook profile using control panel/mail/file data

Hi ,

I belive you had one .pst File at c:\users\carnell\documents\outlook files\outlook.pst , but any how it has got deleted from the mentioned path. Now you have to remove this database entry from the following path.

GO to Outlook > File> Account settings>Data Files > Advance

and then remove the .pst from database list.
