cant create Exchange account for existing AD User
Hi, i have a user that has been sitting off site for the last few years and was forwarding all his mail to his off site email. I did that by making his email in AD the offsite one. Now i want to create him a exchange mailbox but his user is not availble under exchange 2010 for the entire forest... Any ideas...?

If the user is a "Mail User" you can't make it into a "User Mailbox". You have to "Disable" (do NOT use "Remove"!) the Mail User and then create a mailbox for the user. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, Can you find the user by using "Active Directory Users and Computers"? Please open Active Directory Users and Computers and check if this user's account is disabled. If yes, please enable it. Then use Exchange Management Console to create an mailbox for him: 1. Open Exchange Management Console, expand to Recipient Configuration. 2. Click Mail Contact, if the user is in here, please right click it and choose disable. If no, move to the next step directly. 3. Click Mailbox, right click and choose "New Mailbox"->User Mailbox->Existing users, click Add, then select the user. If you cannot find the user's accent in your domain, I think it may be deleted. You will need to create a new AD account for him. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT
