client access to exchange server from remote location
I am running exchange server 2003 and want my mobile employees to be able to login to exchange from wherever they need to. Pop access works from everywhere, but not exchange. I can login to exchange from one of my 10 offices, but these are all VPN together. I need to login from locations that aren't directly connected to my network. Here is my setup below... Server 1 - Domain Controller - Server 2003 Server 2 - Exchange Server - Server 2003 running Exchange 2003 Thanks in advance

Have you published OWA? If you have, is it using SSL? The ideal situation, you would bring in another Exchange 2003 Server as a front-end server (OWA, OMA, ActiveSync, RPC/HTTPS) install an SSL Certificate on that serverand Enable OMA&RPC/HTTPS. Your users should not be able to connect to your server from anywhere using the following: Outlook Web Access (OWA) RPC/HTTPS (Outlook MAPI - like exchange on internal network only with a password prompt) Outlook Mobile Access (Mobile Phone Browser based OWA) ActiveSync (Windows Mobile base PDA's / Nokia Mobiles running Mail for Exchange / RoadSync Clients) To Setup Front-End Server: Install Exchange as per Normal Enable Circular Logging on the Server Dismout & Delete the Information Stores (mark them as never mount at startup) In the Exchange System Manage, goto theServer Properties & check the This is a Front End Server option Restart the server Install the SSLcertificate (if required) Redirect Firewall NAT to Front-End for OWA To Enable Outlook Mobile Access / ActiveSync To Enable Users for Outlook Mobile Access To Enable RPC/HTTPS On the Front-End, Install RPC Proxy Service (Add/Remove Windows Components > Networking Services) On the Backend, Set the Server as part of an RPC/HTTPS Topology (Backend Server) (ESM>Server Properties) On the Front End, Set the Server as an RPC/HTTPS Front-End Server Restart Both Servers NOTE: YOU MUST BE USING SSLON THE FRONT END TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RPC/HTTPS. How to setup RPC/HTTPS on a Single Server RPC/HTTPS is a feature added in Exchange 2003 SP1 with improved functionality in SP2
