defragmentation event id is not showing

The defragmentation event ids are in the 7xx range and have an event
source of "ese".
Check the property page of the database and verify that the
"Maintenance interval" on the "Database" tab isn't set to run at the
same time as your backup.
The 1221 event just tels you the amount of free space in the database.
However, if the on-line maintenance isn't running you won't see that
event. Check to see if the System Attendant service is running, too.
