deleted contacts
Hi all, Exchange 2003 SP2/Windows 2003 R2 I deleted the mail enabled contacts in the active directory users and computers MMC. But, they still show in the GAL after hours. How long will it take to disappear in the GAL? Thank you.

Are you running Outlook in Cached Exchange mode? If that is the case, you are looking at the offline address book (OAB) as opposed to the global address list (GAL). The OAB is generated once every 24 hours so you can wait for it to be automatically regenerated by tomorrow or you can manually regenerate the OAB from the Exchange system manager.Thank you, Ibrahim Benna MCSA+Messaging, MCSE+Messaging, MCT, MVP "Did you backup your Information Store Today?!"

Yes, I am running the cache mode. > The OAB is generated once every 24 hours at what time? >you can manually regenerate the OAB from the Exchange system manager. How? I do not see the option to regenerate. Thanks a lot.

Check this article out, in particular section 4. It shows how to regenerate http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2005/07/16/439665.aspx Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
