ok i know how to change the background my problem is that when i go to change it i cant select anything it is if the options are locked can anyone help

it might be because you are might have logged on as a user and nottheadministrator and some of the setting are locked for that reason. try logging on as administrator and try again.

while unlikley, this could also be a group policy setting. look at:-user configuration--administrative templates---desktop----desktop
