edb viewer
Hello has anyone used a edb viewer on a entire storage group for exchange. I was hoping to see if the data a user wants was actually there before doing an rsg http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/exchange-edb-viewer.html http://www.edbviewer.edbtopst.org/

Hello has anyone used a edb viewer on a entire storage group for exchange. I was hoping to see if the data a user wants was actually there before doing an rsg http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/exchange-edb-viewer.html http://www.edbviewer.edbtopst.org/ I personally haven't try this. Be careful as messing around with the edb is not supported. If back up exchange at the brick level then you can always go through the backup and have a look. Do you have it in the journal or the smtp gateway? Is it in the dumpster?

Take a look at Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp which will allow you to open up any offline EDB so that you can Browse, Search, Export to PST, MSG & XML or recover data directly from the offline EDB into any production Exchange server, even cross version i.e. 2003 --> 2010 etc. Anyway for your particular case you can download the product and obtain a 30 day demo license that will allow you to open any offline EDB so that you can Browse or Search Mailboxes, Folders or Individual Items, but you cannot recover or export without a paid license, however if you want to use it to take a peek into the DB I think you will be very pleased With respect to Michael's comment I would concur that you should be careful i.e. there are only a few really good products on the market that con obtain a high level of accuracy and completeness. The 3 top products are from Lucid8, Quest and Ontrack and of course we feel we have a better and more intuitive product but the others mentioned are IMO the only other solid and respectable products. Also only use a product like DigiScope against a copy of the database. We have never had an instance where DigiScope caused damage but its best practice to never work with your master database, always use a copy :-)Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope
