excel crashing with hot keys (Network Steve Forum)

excel crashing with hot keys

Everytime i do ctrl + a - or ctrl+V or touch the macro buttons - it crashes right away.

In safe mode it is fine.

I already tried to repair it, block all add ins, and even un + re install.

What should i do?

i tried that, still crashing on clean boot.

Hi Dror,

I'm sorry it seems you should try another way to collect the event log and provide us with the whole error messages of event log.

Steps of collecting event log:

Open Event Viewer to check whether there's any error about the Excel/Word crash issue.

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter. In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, there may be some errors after the crash.

The even log content as shown in the following:

Hi Dror,

Based on your error message, your excel crash because of VBE7.DLL.

The version of Excel may vary as may the version of VBE.DLL

To get past this error there are a couple of things you can do.

Method1 - Recompile the Project

Open the workbook in Excel. Normally Excel will disable macros in a worksheet until you click a button to enable the macros. Do not enable the macros just yet.
Open the VBA editor. You can hit ALT+F11 or on the ribbon click Developer > Visual Basic
In the VBA editor double click your module or first module that contains your project. Add a commented line of code such as:
This is a comment
Then click on the Debug menu at the top and click Compile VBA Project.
Repeat this step for each module in your workbook and then save the workbook.
Close the workbook and re-open it and enable the macros and test it.

Method 2 - Disable Compile on Demand

In the VBE Editor in Excel, click on Tools > Options > General tab and click to uncheck Compile on Demand.

Alternatively you can set the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VBA\7.0\Common

Type: DWORD

Name: CompileOnDemand

Value: 0
