exchange 2003 subject: not read
Using Exchange 2003 Enterprise and Outlook 2003 (danish) w/sp3.A sends 4 mailsto multiple receipients and cc's inside the organisation over a few weeks. B receives the messages as a cc.B appers approx 3 months later sending4 messages (within asecond)with subject Not Read (in danish Ikke lst) with the body: "Your message was deleted whitout beeng read" to a internet receipient, that don't have anything to do with it. Are there any conditions where this is an issue?Unfortunatly the message log was enabled too late, so that it isn't possible to se the mails origin, but we do see the delivery message (Not Read - ikke lst) appear in the message tracker asa part of the subject text. The Exchange system does not allow forwarding to internet.Kind Regards

Were any of those 4 a mail enabled contact? Or was any AD mailbox enabled user set up to forward to a mail contact?Oliver

Hi,B appers approx 3 months later sending4 messages (within asecond)with subject Not Read (in danish Ikke lst) with the body: "Your message was deleted whitout beeng read" to a internet receipient, that don't have anything to do with it. Are there any conditions where this is an issue?B forward the email? B resend the emial? Where "Your message was deleted whitout beeng read" appear? From a email or when B do somthing then from a pop-up window?Or Email not be read yet deleted automatically??Please try to reproduce the issue. Please check if you have any delegation on this account?Regards,Xiu

Thanks,What i didn't know was that a 3. partyarchiving system is used for online migration (Com Archive). I suspect the problem could be found here. The reason is an old KB article that describes a problem rather similar: Q186215.So - i'll have to dig into the Com Archive log (if there are any) and hopefully find more answers. The Q186215 article symptoms applied to exch 5.5 but with a third party archiving system you'll never know!Again, thanks it has been helpfull. If i find answers i'll post it here./PerThe problem occurs in the following scenario: UserA (on server A) has delivery set to a PST file and the Empty the Deleted Items Folder Upon Exit option is not selected. UserB is any user in the organization. UserB logs on to his or her mailbox and sends UserA a message with a Read receipt. When UserA reads the message, UserB receives a receipt with a status of Read. When the IS maintenance runs on the server, UserB receives another receipt with a status of "not read". The second receipt, which states:
The message was deleted without being read.
makes it unclear to UserB whether UserA actually read the message. Because the IS maintenance can be configured, the second receipt can be received days after the first receipt.

Better to disable the archiving system and then test the issue again. We need to narrow down the root casue.Regards,Xiu
