exchange 2010 resource forest questions
I read the following articles
http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/planning-architecture/deploying-exchange-resource-forest-part1.html
http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/planning-architecture/deploying-exchange-resource-forest-part2.html
and still have a few questions:
1) Do I need to extend the schema in the account forests?
2) In the article they use transitive trusts. Why? Non-transitive would be more secure right?
3) Can I assume the procedures outlined in the articles are similar to those needed for Exchange 2010?
4) I was planning on using exmerge to export my users email from Exchange 2003 to pst files and then import the pst files into Exchange 2010. Is this a good way to migrate?
Thank you,

1) Do I need to extend the schema in the account forests?
No, if the other forests are prely account forests.
2) In the article they use transitive trusts. Why? Non-transitive would be more secure right?
Transitive trusts are between forest only, taht way if add more domains to either forest you are covered. It does not mean that teh forest trust is transitive with other forests.

3) Can I assume the procedures outlined in the articles are similar to those needed for Exchange 2010?
Yes, the articles, do not mention the availability and autodiscover services needed for cross forest. Lookup cross forest availabilitya nd autodiscover.
4) I was planning on using exmerge to export my users email from Exchange 2003 to pst files and then import the pst files into Exchange 2010. Is this a good way to migrate?
Again, depends on what you need. The prepare-moverequest can be used to move or mailboxes can be exported.

Thank you for the quick response.
The other 2 forests will only be account forests.
The other 2 forests only have 1 domain each and will never have more than that.
I will look them up after lunch.
I will read that after lunch too.
Thanks,
